Central Hotel Guesthouse
With a rich history dating all the way back to 1828, it’s no surprise that the Central Hotel Guesthouse forms a part of Simon’s Town’s historical mile. Its proprietors over the years have included a near-ancient postal agency, a brewery, as well as a couple of families, and the memories of past eras can be seen in the building’s architecture.
The guesthouse offers six en-suite rooms, each tastefully decorated with plush linens and bold yet non-invasive furniture. Though pretty inside and out, the highlight of the hotel is the restaurant on the veranda with views over Simon’s Town harbour.
Along with the harbour and waterfront restaurants, Simon’s Town has a several museums well-worth visiting, including the South African Naval Museum. Visit the local penguin colony at Boulders or Seaforth, and if that piques your taste for adventure, hop down to the marina or harbour for a boat tour, fishing charter, shark-spotting tour or kayak trip.
